The Tea Station
We were talking in my Facebook group the other day about coffee/tea/hot cocoa stations. I shared a photo of mine, but I thought I’d share a bit more about it here.
On the counter, next to the refrigerator, we keep the electric kettle, spoons, raw sugar, a stack of infusers and a jar of my favorite loose tea. I don’t advocate keeping the loose tea out on the counter unless you are storing it in an opaque jar. But it takes two people and tools to adjust the height of shelves in my cheap cupboards, and the canning jar doesn’t fit, so it sits on the counter.
Bad tea blogger.
I’m not at my best first thing in the morning, so I try to avoid anything that might lead to spills, loud noises or broken cups. Since I wake up about 2 hours before the rest of the household (not my preference, but it is what it is), we installed some LED under-cabinet lights. I can see what I'm doing without waking everybody else.
We installed some Ikea Fintorp rails and hooks to hold the mugs and cups under the cupboards. They aren’t hideous, and it leaves a lot more space in the cabinets for other things.
In the wide drawer to the right of the station, we keep tea bags (my favorite chai spice only comes in teabags) and packets of hot cocoa. We store some odds and ends in the cupboard above as well, like instant coffee, hot cocoa mix, and the oddball loose teas that the kids drink occasionally.
Do you have a coffee or tea station in your kitchen?
